- RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Prep' Week
An RYA Yachtmaster Certificate of Competence is often the ultimate aim of aspiring skippers. It is a well known, highly respected qualification worldwide, proving your experience and competence as a skipper.
Unlike other qualifications in the RYA cruising programme, there is no formal training to complete in order to become a Yachtmaster. Instead, provided that you have sufficient experience and seatime, you can put yourself forward for an exam to test your skills and knowledge.
We recommend our Yachtmaster preparation week prior to the exam. This is an opportunity for you to fine tune those hard earned skills prior to taking your Yachtmaster exam. During the week prior to your exam our experienced instructor will put you through your paces on all aspects of the syllabus, from blind pilotage to close quarters boat handling both under sail and power. It will also give you the opportunity to revise the theoretical side of the Yachtmaster requirements from Colregs and course to steer to tidal height calculations.
You must meet the pre-requisites of a Yachtmaster Coastal or Yachtmaster Offshore Candidate.
This week of intense preparation will give you familiarity with the boat and if you have not sailed with us before it will be an opportunity to experience some of the splendor of the Golfe de Morbihan and Baie de Quiberon.
The week will end with your instructor leaving you and your crew with the examiner for an 8 – 10 hours practical exam.
The prep' week is 1280€ excluding the exam fee, which is payable directly to the RYA.
See our 'Downloads' for details of Pre-Requisites, Exam Requirements and Commercial Endorsement.
